I upgraded to the X 75 from the X 65 chip. Alfredo was awesome to work with. Since I purchased from him before he worked with me on a trade-in. He handled all the return shipping labels for me. And expedited the shipping back out to me. Just a great experience working with him. I would highly recommend if you were in the market for a new router. Go through Chester tech repairs.
Also, the new router is super fast with the X 75 chip in it. Well worth the upgrade.
Running the Quectel RM551E (Snapdragon X75) in my Chester terminal on AT&T. Short version: this modem does things the older chips just can't.
The carrier aggregation is the headline. The X75 does cross-block n77 — it's the only modem class that can stack DoD (3.45 GHz) AND C-band (3.7 GHz) n77 carriers at the same time, plus LTE anchors on top. Right now I'm running 4CA: LTE B30 + B66 + n77 DoD + n77 C-band simultaneously. My old X62 (GL-X3000) physically cannot do cross-block — it maxes around 300-400 Mbps on the same tower. The X65 can, but the X75 goes further.
The speed jump was night and day. Out of the box the modem did ~280 Mbps. After enabling the extra CA combos it unlocked, same tower, same plan: 1.0 Gbps down. The n77 channel alone widened from 6 MHz to 70 MHz once aggregation was working right. That's hardware headroom the X75 genuinely has and older chips don't.
Working flawlessly
With help from Alfredo and after setting up this modem, I know why every other product review is also 5 stars! I had initially upgraded to an external antenna for T-mobile's stock gateway, but in my experience the money spent on The Main Event is a far better value. Could not be happier with this purchase and the upload/download speeds I'm getting consistently.
I live in England and I have finally found The Holy Grail. Alfredo is a Master Craftsman and knows what people want. I'm absolutely delighted and it's worth every penny. It's the best thing since sliced bread. What's Alfredo going to do with the X85 Chip.
