I received my Ninja modem 2 weeks ago and it has surpassed my expectations by a large margin. I already had a Waveform 4x4 antenna and just couldn't get the speeds on stock gateway from provider that I desired. I seen a review on NaterTater channel about this little device, so I ordered one from ChesterTech. Item arrived within 2 days, and setup was simple. My speed tests on old gateway were 375-450Mbps download most days, and would drop lower in evenings. Upload speeds were 18-20Mbps on old gateway, but now with Ninja modem connected to my Asus AI-Mesh system I already have with old gateway, my speeds massively increased to 1.31Gbps download and 133Mbps upload. I am smiling ear to ear with the results. Support with Chester Tech is phenomenal! Very quick response with their chat feature. I appreciate all the help I received from them.
Really fast.Great customer service.
No hassles.Just pure works
Awesome product and support!!!!
First off- Best tech customer service I have ever dealt with hands down. Even went out of his way to test a component I wasn’t sure would work accordingly with the install parameters I had in mind which was awesome.
Now does it perform-
I am in a rural area and have been running for the better part of 3 years a Nighthawk mr5100 with a dinky ts-9 attached 2x2 antenna. I initially tested a waveform 2x2 Omni to see if I could significantly improve my speeds with just a better quality antenna and while it did function it did not meet expectations for the price of the antenna based on my crap signal. For reference on the m5100 I would occasionally get an aggregated ch speed of about 110mbps with 10/15mbps upload. More commonly though I was limited to about 25 download and 3 upload which is needless to say not great.
So the solution- I decided to get the ninja x75 unit over a Peplink BR1 pro as I have my own home network and switches running and did not need the built in router saving me money right off the bat. Additionally the peplink has an x62 or x65 chipset where as the ninja can be ordered with an x75 which I’m told has much better fringe network capabilities . Additionally I added a waveform 4x4quad pro on the roof to maximize signal.
Initial testing- same location as my m5100 with the 4x4 antenna in the same place as my 2x2 dinky antenna- it did take a few minutes for the sim to be ok with moving over to the unit but after two restarts it figured itself out and has worked flawlessly. But in this configuration I was seeing 250mbps download with 30mbps upload .
Moving to the roof antenna setup and some signal testing which was made significantly easier than before with the Ninjas UI (impressively simple but also as prosumer as you’d like) I was able to obtain consistent 400mbps download with 40mbps upload using ookla test site. Using the built in program I was seeing some tests showing 750mbps download but still consistently 40mbps upload. Either way it was worth the investment and time thus far to get a several hundred percent increase in speeds both upload and download.
Last thing I am waiting on to complete the install is some 35mm Dim plate to mount the ninja and a PoE injector so I can power it off the routers universal backup power source in the event of outages.
Thank you Alfredo appreciate your hard work and responsiveness maybe one of these days I’ll see if there’s any other tricks to boosting this thing to a gbps ha!
The modem is a great little piece of tech. Small package, which is perfect for a home install, but super capable. Moreover the customer service is what blew my mind. Not only did they personally help me tune the cellular settings to my specific network and location, they spent even more time helping me restore the modem after I went in and messed it up. Lesson learned but super appreciative of having that level of support!!
